The user 'olpc' should be in the group 'uucp'. By default, Unix gives
permission to read and write serial port devices to all users in the group
'uucp'. This is so that uucp can check for incoming uucp connections.
There are no system devices which are in the group 'uucp'. The only
devices which end up in the 'uucp' group are serial port USB devices.
Since we have no idea exactly what devices people might connect, it makes
sense for user-level programs to have access to these devices.
Specifically, in my case, I want to access a GPS receiver which gets
connected as a serial port device.
