Comment:

 Yesterday we gave it another shot.

 Debugging output on the EC port does not reveal much,
 not even with smithbone's trace dump enabled.

 We believe the EC does not really decode the packets
 it's relaying, so the problem may be in the touchpad
 microcontroller.

 To see if I'm right, I'm looking for a way to reset
 the uC without actually resetting Linux or the EC.
 Does anyone know how to do it?  And what would I
 then do to re-initialize it?

 I'm also going to have a quick look into the kernel
 code for handling the trackpad.  Dilinger gave me
 some insight on it yesterday.
