Creative Center was developed for MaMaMedia.

 Git source is at dev.laptop.org/git/mamamedia/mamamedia-activity-center

 XO bundle is in dev.laptop.org/~cn/public_rpms/joyride/MaMaMediaMenu-1.xo

 A. Epistemological impact—to what degree does this activity positively
 impact learning?

The MaMaMedia Creative Center will allow users to create a personalized
interface for accessing their favorite content on the XO. This positively
impacts the learning experience by encouraging the user to explore
activities and figure out which are favorites, and by giving them a forum
for sharing their favorites in a customized way. In its default state, the
Creative Center provides a fun context for exploring MaMaMedia activities
and core functions of the XO. All of the activities presented here help
users to learn problem solving skills, and to develop creative projects
(puzzles, stories, cartoons, polls, quizzes and more) that reflect
understanding of a topic being studied. In the course of using the
MaMaMedia activities, users also learn how to use the Journal, Mesh,
Write, Paint, Record and other core XO activities. Easy-to-follow lesson
plans are integrated into each activity.

 B. Fun—is it fun? Engaging?

MaMaMedia Creative Center is a menu page that is in itself a creative
activity. It is a user-modifiable interface design and content display --
a "Make Your Own Favorites” screen. Students are able to make a
personalized view of their favorite MaMaMedia Creative Center Activities
and XO content; they will be able to choose which XO activities to display
prominently (all activities will still be accessible) and they can add
 their own background image.

In the default state, prior to the students design work, the page
introduces all the MaMaMedia activities in a colorful and engaging way
that will motivate users to explore. At the center is the playful Idea
Child logo, surrounded by Idea Bubbles -- buttons for the learning
activities filled with creative ideas for how to use the XO laptops for
learning and teaching, and lesson plans for students, educators and
 families in the OLPC communities.

 C. Quality—is the activity sufficiently robust in its implementation that
it will not compromise the integrity or supportability of the system? Is
the overall quality of the implementation adequate to meet our standards?
Can the community be engaged in the process of testing and "certifying"
 and maintaining the activity?

Yes. Creative Center was created to work within the system requirements of
the XO. The OLPC team and OLPC community volunteers have contributed
feedback on the existing content and are highly encouraged and welcomed to
be involved in further testing and certification.

 D. Sugerized—to what extent has the activity been integrated into Sugar,
including UI, Journal, security, internationalization, etc.?

Yes. Creative Center has been fully Sugerized to ensure that it runs well
within the current Sugar framework and UI.

Does the activity require the folding in of additional libraries and
resources? (This has impact on robustness—positive and negative—support,
bloat, and overall usability, aesthetics, and perception of quality of the
 machine.)

Creative Center must query Bundle Registry to confirm the existence of the
XO bundles for the other activities and needs to be able to request their
 launch programmatically.

 E. FOSS—is the activity and all of its dependencies free and open?

Yes, Creative Center is fully open and free.

 F. Extensible—is the activity something the community can extend? Does it
span multiple needs? (And does it have—or the potential of having—an
 upstream community of support?)

Yes. The Creative Center was designed to grow and transform and expand in
the future. It is built to be re-designed and/or layered by us or various
OLPC communities around the world. We are still adding the user-
modification features and we hope developers and aspiring developers will
want to add new features and customize the code further in future.

 G. Uniqueness—does the activity add a unique feature to the core?

Yes. Creative Center offers orientation to the XO and MaMaMedia activities
for new users. The "Make Your Own Favorites” functionality will model a
user-modifiable interface design and content display, which is not offered
in any other core activities at present.

 H. Expectations—does the activity meet the expectations of (children,
 teachers, parents, G1G1 audience, etc.)?

Yes. Creative Center is designed for parents and learners worldwide, as
well as G1G1 and other OLPC initiatives.

 I. Discoverable—is the core activity discoverable? (This is not to say
that it shouldn't be hard work to fully exploit the power of an activity,
but it should have a low barrier to entry.)

Yes. Creative Center presents a low barrier to entry in its default state
as an orienting menu screen for MaMaMedia activities. The option to add
customize the buttons content, background and other display features adds
a further level of complexity and advanced play options for more
sophisticated users, but will be easy to learn and use.
