Comment(by bemasc):

 I am setting the mime type to 'text/plain', but so far I have not noticed
 an option to open in Write. According to marcopg, the ability to specify
 which activity should open a Journal entry is not yet exposed through the
 Activity API. Instead, it requires using the D-Bus datastore API. Given
 that each entry has only 5 characters, I think this feature is not
 critical. I will implement it once the Activity API exposes this
 functionality.

 Copy-paste seems to me like a good solution for moving numbers between
 activities. For that reason, the distance display field provides
 selection and copying. If you select the field and hit "Ctrl-C" or right-
 click and select "Copy", the distance will appear as an item in the
 clipboard, which can then be opened by Write or Etoys, removed, or added
 to the Journal.
