 To handle the loopback mounts gracefully, the last remaining reason why
 /etc/mtab has to be a real file instead of a symlink to /proc/mounts.

 So we came up with a scheme involving the automatic cleanup of loopback
 devices associated with the loop mounts:

  * kernel patch by dwmw2 posted to lkml
  * userspace patch by me to util-linux-ng maintainer
