Comment:

 There are gtk+ api's for this stuff.  Are you using them?

 Marco, this may be/probably is too late a request; substantially done in
 my book includes the work others would have to do, not just one's own
 work.  So I fear/expect we'll have to wait.  I'm putting this into the
 Future Features milestone; you can pull it back out if it makes any sense
 to try to do.
