 '''Modes:''' The above media icons should be the leftmost icons within
 each mode toolbar.  The buttons should be XO colored, and they should be a
 record button (in addition to the generic inline record button in the
 view).  As standard buttons, they should have a primary palette which
 identifies their function (eg. "Take photo", or "Start Recording"), and
 they can also (once supported) indicate their keyboard shortcuts
 (spacebar).  If, in the future, any advanced record settings are needed
 for the individual modes (such as video size/compression), these options
 should appear in the secondary palette of these record buttons.  The
 presence of this record button in the toolbar has the added bonus of
 allowing someone to press record at any time (even when not looking at the
 live feed); the live feed should appear when appropriate.

 '''Busy Indication:''' When Record is switching modes, processing audio,
 compressing video, etc, we would like to place a grayscale still of the
 most recent video frame on screen, reducing the contrast a good deal so
 that it is clearly inactive.  This will take the place of any large
 clock/wait/busy icons.

 '''Record Buttons:''' Given the custom media record buttons which will
 appear in the toolbar, we are going to use the standard media-record icon
 from the system theme within the view.  This will fit in nicely with the
 other playback icons which appear here, and emphasize an association with
 this mostly generic button as a record button, since it will be used in
 many other activities.  It should be displayed at standard button size
 (55px inside a 75px "box")

 '''Search:'''  We already have a standard search icon (system-search), but
 I'm not sure this functionality is needed in this activity any longer.
 It's already going to behave like a small collection of photos, grouped
 around a theme or time period.  Moreover, the thumbnails are already
 neatly grouped into trays for their various media types.  I think that
 trying to impose a search on top of what is designed as an interface for
 basic input will confuse things.
