 This log does exhibit the problem.  You're seeing events that pertain to
 the battery (is charging, is discharging), but not to the AC adapter (is
 online, is offline).

 We could try to infer whether the AC adapter is online/offline based on
 the state of the battery; I'll ponder that (battery full situations sound
 tricky).  But in any case, Linux knows the state of the charger directly,
 and HAL should too.
