Comment(by wad):
There was a problem with these machines due to how we loaded the build
onto them, but fixing it did NOT fix the inability of X to start.
In order to avoid a multistep install process, cjb took a laptop, loaded
build 617 onto it, then loaded the new kernel, our test scripts, and a
modified /boot/olpc.fth (enabling more logging than anyone should have to
suffer through). He then did a save-nand from OFW to create the image
loaded onto all the test laptops.
This process caused /etc/hosts to have two entries for the local hostname,
one of which was actually the hostname of the machine used to make the
build. (Good catch, Bernie).
I corrected this by editing /etc/hosts, then rebooted, and X was still
failing to start up.
I removed the Xauthority entry from /etc/rwtab, and upon reboot, X started
up fine.
