Comment:

 This patch never went upstream as it uses floating point, and would be  a
 real problem on X implementations such as ARM (e.g. Nokia handhelds).

 If you are interested in it, you'll need to find someone to rewrite it
 into integer: I'm not willing to keep this patch in our tree in the long
 run.

 I did experiment a bit with the acceleration parameters suggested in
 another bug (I forget which one).  It seemed better to me that what we
 have now (though I need to do the experiment on the 1.4 X server).
