B4, 611, Q2D01.
I put a file called !SimCity.xo on a 2GB CompUSA USB stick on a normal
laptop, umounted, put it onto the XO. Eventually the XO notices and
mounts it (I can see this in the dev console). When I go into the
Journal, a USB icon appears on the bottom row, and if I hover over it,
"COMPUSA / Unmount" appears. But clicking on the USB icon doesn't do
anything. The rest of the screen does not change. I can't see my file
from the USB stick.
I recommend that we provide an ordinary file browser, of the Nautilus
sort, so that users will have a GUI for navigating the file system and
their own files on external media. Whatever the Journal might be good
for, it surely isn't good for this.
(I was trying to install this !SimCity game as a new application, on SJ's
advice that if it had a ".xo" extension, the Journal could install it for
me. He suggested downloading it in the Web browser, serving it up with
that extension. I thought surely a USB key should work, and be simpler,
since the originating web site did NOT offer the file with a .xo
extension. Silly me...)
