 While I'm aware that this is a concern, I'm pretty sure that we never use
 the user-supplied nickname as an account name, and we always compare by
 either account name or public-key hash (in practice, the account name *is*
 the public key hash).

 Until #3683 was fixed, the user-supplied nickname was used to distinguish
 between accounts on the same machine. It's possible that this is somehow
 connected.
