Comment:

 In the latest builds, the /var/log/messages file has 0600 permission, we
 need to do two small fixes here:

 1) Change the messages file permission to 0644
 2) Update the old console to avoid read files without the right
 permissions..

 please let me know if I'm allowed to push some patch.
