Comment:

 We have a c1 machine where this bug apparently triggered during init
 starting up udev (rc.sysinit calling start_udev, specifically).  It
 happened on oct 6, with a kernel that included all of the latest vserver
 (0.4.7) patches.  The only code that appends 0xa9 to filenames is in
 cow_break_link, which is provided by vserver.

 We need to follow up w/ Bertl.
