 sugar/docs/controls.txt says:

 * Do not use text inside the progress bar
 }}}

 For example the battery palette displays the text below the actual
 progress bar. You do not see the text in the progressbar in sugar due to
 the sugar theme (white text). The style of the progressbar could be
 changed in artwork to not have that behavior I guess.
