 The only way to gather such metrics at the moment is to hack the kernel
 code to emit them. I'll see if I can come up with something better. It
 would probably be too intrusive to make the kernel report such information
 -- but a userspace tool which reads the flash directly through the
 /dev/mtd0 device might be quite feasible. I'll take a look.
