#5168: G1G1 Machines need USB MIDI Keyboard Drivers Installed

In the summer of 2006, the music group of Barry Vercoe, Simon Schampijer
and Richard Boulanger - installed, tested, and developed Csound-based
music demos using the linux drivers for the M-Audio USB Oxygen8 MIDI
Keyboard Controller. They work on the XO! But we stopped installing them
as our focus shifted to TamTam - which would not provide MIDI Keyboard
support. It was argued that a MIDI Keyboard controller would cost almost
as much at the XO itself..... But now, with G1G1, there will be *many*
who would actually have MIDI keyboards to use with the XO. These USB MIDI
Keyboard drivers (at least) should be installed so that G1G1 recipients
 can plug in their
MIDI keyboard controllers and play Csound Instruments and Samples. Live
Keyboard Demos will be provided with Greg Thompson's Csound Server/Editor
Activity. (These will allow the adopters to play the GM sample set, or
some specifically designed synthetic instruments.) Informal discussions
with Walter and Jim seemed to indicate that this made sense to them as
well. I was told to make the request via the Trac system - and so.... My
request - Install (or link and show G1G1 users how to install themselves)
USB MIDI Keyboard Drivers (particularly the Oxygen8 Drivers from M-Audio).

 Respectfully Requested and Submitted,

 Dr. Richard Boulanger
