Comment:

 Agreed.  Clicking a button should be independent of its palette state.  If
 the palette never appears, fine.  If the palette appears before the button
 is clicked, it should simply remain after the click.  The hiding/showing
 of the palette should be a function of the mouse position and movement
 only.
