Comment:

 I suspect this may be related to the olpc-utils bug fixed by
 http://dev.laptop.org/git?p=users/cscott/olpc-utils-
 tmp;a=commit;h=e7a7118cde5aa68fa89a5697ee5e58bc697213b8

 (Assuming that this problem only occurs when you olpc-update to 339.)

 To confirm this, rm ~olpc/.olpc-configured and re-run /etc/rc.d/init.d
 /olpc-configure and restart X and see if the problem goes away.
