Comment:

I've been wondered for some time if the state saving functionality
 actually works.

The logic to implement it is in /etc/rc.sysint, and the target directory
is supposed to be /var/lib/stateless/state, but I don't see it mounted or
containing anything. And even if we wanted to fix it, where else could be
 mount it other than jffs2?

The whole stateless thing seems to me like a gross hack for programs that
won't behave correctly when the root is mounted rw, because they use
 hardcoded paths such as /etc.

Moreover, these bind mounts that stateless creates tend to confuse rpm and
other programs that think they can rename(2) a temporary file to rename
 them.

So I think we should strive to reduce the number of cases where this is
needed, or simply acknowledge that the root has to be mounted rw, so the
 whole thing is pointless.

 Thoughts?
