I would like to start the Bengali localization process for OLPC. The
language code is BN. I've been involved in the BN localization projects
from Q1 2003; for GNOME L10N as a team member of Ankur Bangla Project
(www.bengalinux.org), and a co-lead in OpenOffice.org Native Lang Project
for Bengali.
About Bengali Language
"Bengali is native to the region of eastern South Asia known as Bengal,
which comprises present day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West
Bengal. With nearly 230 million total speakers, Bengali is one of the most
widely spoken languages (ranking 6th in the world according to Encarta
Encyclopedia (2007). Bengali is the primary language spokenin Bangladesh
and is the second most widely spoken language in India."
