 Hm.  Doesn't your gstreamer pipeline return an error if it runs out of
 disk space, allowing you to then just delete the crazy-large file and
 abort recording?  If so, why doesn't that accomplish the goal?

 I'm interested in helping to work out how to get past this limitation.
