 Well, it is "restricting" in that you cannot get at every 24 bit RGB
 color, which is what the other color pickers are designed to support. But
 for that a click on some "advanced color picker" toggle should be
 sufficient.

 OTOH- as long as we run in 16 bits, we only have 64K different displayable
 colors. To display them we only need a 256x256 square. You just would have
 to come up with usable order :)
