New description:
The find feature in write is supposed to incrementally highlight matches
while typing. When there is only one occurrence, this doesn't work very
well, and it frequently highlights only one letter and not the whole query
string.
This might, in fact, be a side effect of the cycling behavior that occurs
when there ''are'' multiple occurrences (#4861). It might be better to
tackle that first.
