 typing file:/// works

 typing file:///home/olpc/ silently fails.

 The logs for browse show an unhandled xpcom.exception.

 My suggestion would be to handle this specific exception, but also add a
 catch-all which informs the user *something* went wrong for an unknown
 exception.
