 Press the power button to go sleep.

 Wakeup via touchpad/keyboard.

 Screen comes back on; but you can notice a very slight flicker
 periodically, and the touchpad does not behave.  I believe it is the
 screen has been turned back on and the machine suspended again....

 Pressing the power button puts the machine back into a usable state...
