 User choice of backlight brightness is lost as a result of the idle
 detection.  Discussed in #olpc with cjb, this needs a change to get
 brightness, calculate an approprate lower value, and restore brightness,
 instead of setting to an absolute value.

 By comparison, a MAC OS X laptop I have here will not dim below the
 minimum brightness setting.
