Comment:
The Librivox bundles being developed, and the spoken texts at Gutenberg,
are in speex format. Since we want people to be able to install and play
those bundles, it is certainly an important format. Colingo, which has
english, spanish, and portuguese language-learning bundles, is moving to
speex to better highlight the spoken words in their video; while those
bundles may not land for another few weeks, they will likely be available
by the time U.1 machines land.
The broader failures of gstreamer to work smoothly are most important for
content delivery, as we claim to rely on gstreamer for all media playback.
