 I have seen Terminal memory use go up to 49 MB and higher (using 'top').
 It appears to rise by about 3 MB every time I use the Journal to unmount a
 USB key.

 This is in joyride build 249, and I am speaking about the Terminal
 activity, not the alt+= console.
