 Record is not handling the error condition of resulting from being unable
 to read the user's public key.

 We can fix this either by Record access to a copy of the user's public key
 or by fixing Record so that it makes up a value if it can't get this one.

 After fixing this issue, Record starts but is unable to access the audio
 or video devices.

 Performing

 {{{
 chmod a+x /dev/snd/*
 chmod a+x /dev/video0
 }}}

 seems adequate to get the video camera going. It's unclear to me whether
 sound works because Record hangs when it tries to save its recording to
 the DS, probably due to #3801.
