Comment(by Eben):

 What if the Journal remains open?  It's going to sit there at the same
 screen and grow stale.  Perhaps on resume from sleep would  be enough to
 cover this?  Also, I assume that if an entry scrolls out of view and then
 back it, it will be updated?
