 In joyride-228:

Ctrl+O is a systemwide shortcut to bring up the Journal. The system's
command-line text editor is nano, in which ctrl+o is the command to save a
file. Thus, it is impossible to edit files in Terminal, because the save
command is intercepted and opens the Journal instead.

 Solution:
 1. Terminal should deactivate all keyboard shortcuts.
 2. ctrl+o should be removed. It exactly duplicates the functionality of
the magnifying-glass key, in addition to interfering with other
 activities.
