Comment:

 The cvs repository only allows access if you have an account and a
 registered public/private key pair.  this is required even to just check
 out the code.  Let me know if this is an issue

 here is detailed instructions for getting read access to the helix
 repositorys:

 checkout using the command:
 cvs -d :ext:your_user_name at cvs.helixcommunity.org/cvsroot/olpc-player co
 sugar

 commit access is restricted but may be granted on a case by case basis.
