 Thumbnails made in record are base64'd pngs.
 Record can create and open these without a problem.
 However, once a video is opened with totem, Record chokes when trying to
 open the thumbnail data: Unrecognized image file format.

 I can work around this, but it would be good to know what totem is doing
 and if it should be changing anything if just playing videos.
