 David sent me a test version of the EC code (c14t-1.bin) that fixes this
 problem.  It passes my tests; I have tested both the key-up events and
 keyboard resets (the ACK problem), and neither cause the screen to power
 up.  But key-down events do cause it to power up, which is the correct
 behavior.
