 1. Open the web browser
 2. Enter a URL in the form http://www.site.com/wherever
 3. Press 'Enter'.

 If the web browser had the OLPC library or other page loaded from the file
 system, the HTTP request will fail.  The browser won't load any pages nor
 try to fulfill the request.

 Pinging the remote servers works, DNS works.  Tried that a couple of
 times, then rebooted.  The web browser began accepting HTTP URLs after the
 reboot.
