Comment:

 I have a few guesses, but I'd really like to see the full oops.

 I'd appreciate it if you could do the following:

 Insert the following into /etc/syslogd.conf:

 kern.*                          -/var/log/kern.log

 Then restart syslogd with:

 /etc/init.d/syslog restart

 And reproduce the problem, then without rebooting get the
 /var/log/kern.log file off the system and attach it to the bug report.
