Comment (by wmb at firmworks.com):
I put scope probes on VDDEN and ECPWRRQST and verified that the
restoration of VDDEN results from an assertion pulse on ECPWRRQST.
Actually there are two such pulses about 1.6 mS apart, and they occur
between 9 mS and 50 mS after the enter key is pressed. So it definitely
is the ECPWRRQST.
Aha again!
It is the release event from the keyboard that is causing the problem. If
I hit enter and release it quickly, I can get by with shorter delays. If
I hold the enter key down for a long time, even very long delays are
insufficient.
So what is happening here is that the EC is doing its job and waking up
the DCON on keyboard activity.
So, if we want to make the Linux "reboot" command turn off the panel so
that it stays off, we have to either modify Linux to wait for the enter
key to be released before doing the shutdown dance, or else modify the EC
code so it doesn't assert ECPWRRQST on release events.
