Comment (by jg):

Albert: TamTam working as root was merely a symptom, for which we probably
have found the cause and a much less dangerous solution, noted in my most
recent reply, that should potentially help *all* audio applications on
OLPC. It was clear from the beginning we had priority problems; running
as root was just implying something was happening some place to affect the
processes priority, since root has privileges regular users don't.

On a properly engineered system, root becomes pretty meaningless: e.g. at
MIT on project Athena, the root password has been public since the 1980's.
It literally gets you nothing that makes it dangerous.

Keep to the original topic in a trac entry, rather than wandering
off into things that have little to do with the problem we're working on.
If you want a trac discussion about using SE linux, or the merits of it
versus bitfrost, that should be a separate trac entry. You are showing
this same problem in many other trac postings you are making.

In this case, the topic is finding a solution for TamTam so it works
properly, where the topic at the very beginning was about "Priority
problems", rather than anything about root or security.

Otherwise, the signal to noise obscures the information required to get
problems solved.
