Comment:

 Invocation of operations should only be on "up" events.

 And it's probably the case this is happening because of autorepeat (since
 most toolkits trigger on up events).  So we should mark that button so it
 doesn't autorepeat.  That should be a simple change in the keyboard
 definitions.
