I have experimental OFW code that puts a copy of the kernel + olpc.fth in
a hidden "partition" of the NAND FLASH. The "partition" is created by
marking some blocks as "bad" so the OS doesn't look at them, but they are
distinguished from real bad blocks by using an otherwise-unused code value
in the bad block table.
This knocks about 6 seconds from the boot time, and requires no OS mods.
