Comment:

 This is not worth worrying about.  The EC serial port signals will be
 protected against easy access (covered with epoxy or something) in the
 final version of the circuit board.  Even without that protection, if you
 open up the case there are any number of ways to break the machine.

 If we ever do a ground-up rewrite of the EC code, we will probably remove
 the XOFF thing, but until then, this is a non-issue.
