Comment:

 Repurposing the IDE lines is an OK solution, but I'd like to point out
 that the EC also has a board ID mechanism.  It would make sense to only
 have one such mechanism and if so it has to be through the EC.

 The EC currently reads the voltage level on an analog input to determine
 the board level.  We could easily get eight or nine distinct levels out of
 it...
