 Thanks, can we also confirm that we're testing the same way?  To do this
 manually I open two shells, in one I ping and in the other I start and
 stop adhoc like this:

 while true; do iwconfig msh0 mode ad-hoc channel 11 essid olpc-test; sleep
 5; iwpriv msh0 adhocstop; sleep 5; done
 }}}

 (basically what Javier posted earlier).  Is this right?
