 Yes, it remains blank until rebooted.  Although I strongly suspect that I
 could reinitialize the display subsystem and redraw the screen to get the
 data back - which is about the same as rebooting from the DCON point of
 view.

 It could be power related, or perhaps it might have something to do with
 other control signals to the DCON - e.g. DCONBLNK or the SMBUS link.
