 Hm; I do like this idea, just because I don't like the idea of having to
 associate the backlight state with the greyscale state.  That is, if we're
 in color mode, backlight goes to 0; we then turn the backlight back on,
 and we need to remember that we were previously in color mode (and thus
 turn color back on).  Userspace is a better place for that sort of
 policy..
