Comment:

 This can't happen until #1276 and #663 are done: Bernie is working on them
 now.  Hopefully we'll have this done by the time we can merge a new
 version of X, which, with luck, will be by Trial-2.

 Eben also has to have a chance to do some experimentation, which can't
 happen before those are done.

 I'm moving the milestone back to Trial-2 to keep this on the radar,
 understanding that things may have to give.
