The new EC 6c/68 protocol ignores the locking bit 7 of port 6c. The new
protocol does not require a locking scheme to be used. The kernel will do
its own locking to prevent multiple threads from accessing the EC at the
 same time.

The kernel in current builds fails to read the the BMS info because the
 lock bit is set.

The solution is to use the new kernel that uses the new EC protocol.
