Comment:

 The unit in question is behaving well now.  Possible explanations:

 {{{
 a) The brickage was probable pilot error, as noted in a previous comment
 b) The keyboard flakiness could be a result of OFW keyboard init code,
 which is improved in q2c15
 c) Another possibility is that the keyboard cable may have been crimped by
 the housing, at the 90 degree bend after the cable exits left from the
 hinge and heads down toward the keyboard.
