 Logging in for the first time (emulated build 443), I select the colors of
 my personal XO.  By cycling through possibilities.  Unfortunately, the
 login page is itself very dark (black?).  If the rim color of the XO is
 dark, it blends in with the background, complicating selection.

 More generally, the background for selection should be the same as the
 background in normal use.  Which is never dark.  We are creating needless
 'what you see is not what you get' surprise here.

 Proposal: either make the entire background the standard gray, or place a
 standard gray box underneath the selection region.
